杏吧视频 announces creation of Applied Technologies Center to meet growing demands in utilities, energy, Industry 4.0 & sustainable technology

In response to the rising demand for skilled professionals in sectors such as utilities, energy, Industry 4.0, and sustainable technology, 杏吧视频 is proud to announce the creation of the Applied Technologies Center.
This state-of-the-art facility will represent a significant step forward in advancing 杏吧视频鈥檚 mission to serve the region鈥檚 workforce and economic development needs, and to continue the College鈥檚 efforts to expand its utilities programs. The building will provide flexible, innovative spaces to support programs in the utilities, HVAC, energy efficiency, renewable energy, Industry 4.0 聽and more.
To start this new project, a groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Monday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m., to be held in the Jets Hangar. Plans call for a 15,000 square foot building to be built toward the southeast corner of campus, behind the Howser Child Development Center and near the Jets Hangar. The cost of the building is anticipated to be $6.8 million, with $5.8 million coming from the sale of bonds.
鈥淭he building represents our commitment to creating innovative spaces that adapt to evolving industry needs,鈥� said Dean Jamie Vandenburgh. 鈥淏y integrating flexibility into the design, we鈥檙e ensuring our students receive hands-on, industry-relevant training that prepares them for success in high-demand careers.鈥�
杏吧视频 offers an associate degree and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in energy systems. In addition, students may complete an Empower Lineworker Pre-Apprentice Certificate to become apprentice line workers, a program creating in partnership with Consumers Energy.

Phelan. 鈥淭his is an exciting milestone as we continue to innovate and invest in the future of education, workforce, and economic development.鈥�
杏吧视频 has communicated with statewide agencies, such as the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, the Michigan Municipal Electric Association, Michigan Workforce Training & Education Collaborative, and statewide utilities who offer their support for the project.
